RACE #1 - Mason-Dixon
4/25/09
A great way to start off
the 2009 season. The weather was wonderful. The 422 All Stars
staff would
like to thank the racers, their crew and their friends. The day went off
without a hitch. Everyone
signed-up, qualified and paired in the lanes like a well oiled machine.
This shows once again that we
have a group of the finest drag racing professionals running in our series.
Our first race brought out
28
cars and we still had some regulars unable to attend. Fields like this
make for some great racing
and
a show the fans won't soon forget. In the end Steve Ramsey and his CJ
Mustang took the win
over
runner-up Skip Koester and his Thunderbolt.

RACE #2 - numidia 5/16/09
As the grey skies gave way
to the sun it seemed we would have a good race day. 24 drivers braved
the forecast in search of championship points. After all, the weatherman
has been wrong before and
last year at Numidia was a perfect example. 2 rounds of qualifying put
Tom Doughty on the top of the
pile with a near perfect .001 light. Round 1 brought out a deluge of
rain, wind and lightning. A mere
30 seconds into this storm we knew we were done for the day. Discussions
with drivers, tracks and
the All Stars staff failed to find a suitable rain date for eliminations.
As a result all drivers
will receive points for the tech, qualifying and 1 round of eliminations.

RACE #3 - englishtown 6/7/09
The sun was back for this
race day with a vengeance. Only 24 cars graced this event with there
presence.
Several of the Chevy's had prior commitments. Were not sure where the
others were. There was however
some new sheet metal at the show. The Pontiacs were out in force.
The Pickett's brought out the first of
their wagons and newcomer (to the series) Nunzi Automotive brought out their
latest hot rod. 422 Motorsports
brought out the Fermier Brothers Galaxie only to load it back up with trans
problems on its maiden voyage.
Breakouts took out driver after driver as the track and weather improved.
In the finals Tom Doughty's hole
shot over Tony Romano gave him the win in a tight race right up to the stripe.

RACE #4 - maple grove 6/13/09
Still only 26 cars....Is
everyone afraid of a little rain? The weather looked great until we
lined up for the first
round. The track dried rather quickly but left us with only one
qualifier. The clouds kept threatening but we
managed to get the full race in. The 422 Motorsports team, once again,
crumbled under red lights and
breakouts. Leo Sekulski shook everyone up (especially himself) with a
spectacular plume of smoke in the
shutdown area. The oil down set the schedule back even farther.
This scene is usually major motor trouble
but lady luck was on Leo's side as this was just a blown oil filter. He
was back for the next round only to be
put on the trailer by John Warehime in the semi-finals. Keith Wynn
dashed Tom Doughty's hopes of a
repeat win in the semi's as well. In the final John took the win light
over Keith in a double breakout.

RACE #5 - mir - Budds
creek 7/25/09
Not much to be said.
It was a long hot day. As the sun began to set the clouds rolled in.
The
night sky lit up with a dazzling lightning display. This was a severe
threat to the electronics
at the track and it could have started pouring at any moment. The track
made a tough
decision and called the race after 2 rounds. Points will be awarded
accordingly.

RACE #6 - beaver springs 8/15/09
A scorcher of a day!
As usual on a day like this we qualified in the midday sun. We ran
eliminations
as the sun set. The track got better and the air got better.
Breakouts were of course the demise
of many a driver. Pass after pass you could hear the throttles burp at
the end if the track
playing "the game". Some won.....some went home. Still all in all
a good day of racing. For
the second time this season John Warehime came out on top. He has
amassed a commanding
50 point lead ahead of #2 Craig Balmer. Craig jumped from 4th to second
just 2 points ahead of
Steve Vargo. 4th thru 10th are separated by a mere 12 points what a
great battle we have
brewing there.

RACE #7 - US 13 dragway 9/6/09
The last minute points
battle is on! John Warehime will lock the championship just by showing
up
for the finals at The Grove. From there down everything is up for grabs.
Craig Balmer is still holding
a narrow 5 point lead over Steve Vargo. Steve has been hanging in the
top 4 all season and wants
that #2 spot. 1 point behind Steve in 4th place is Jay Zolko. Jay,
in an end of the season charge
jumped from 9th to 4th. 10 points back is Ed Youmans. Ed advanced
from 7th to 5th despite the
fact that he littered the track with engine parts in the 3rd round. Gary
Nies moved from 15th up to
6th by winning the event. Gary pulled off the win in style with a new
ride built with "clutter" he had
sitting around the shop. That's some nice lookin' and runnin' clutter.
Gary missed race #6 and will
have a hard time maintaining a top 10 position. Keith Wynn is still
holding in the top 10 but was
bumped to 7th in the shuffle. Steve Ramsey fell from 4th to 8th when his
motor let him down in
the
first round. Ciro Mangione went to the 3rd round and was able to move up
2 spots to 9th. Ciro
however missed race #1 and will loose the 20 point bonus dashing his chances
of finishing in the
top 10. Filling the 10th spot is Dave Collette, knocked out of 5th Dave
will be looking to go deep
into the rounds at Maple Grove and recapture his position.
Most everyone in the 11th thru 20th positions are within striking distance of
the top 10. The
points final is definitely going to be a battle royale.
